NLTA names new general manager, announces promotions and hires

Nebraska Land Title and Abstract (NLTA), under leadership of longtime employee and recently named General Manager Susan LaDuke, would like to welcome several new hires.

LaDuke joined what was then Capitol Title in 1995, and most recently the senior title manager of the commercial department. In her new position LaDuke will be taking on the day-to-day responsibility of running NLTA.

NLTA has named Judy Farmer as Title Productions Operations Manager in its Lincoln office. Farmer has more than 30 years experience in the title insurance business, having started as an abstracter and legal secretary in Nebraska City. She managed a title company there before moving to Lincoln 11 years ago to work as senior title examiner for another company. Farmer holds an associate’s degree in court reporting from Lincoln School of Commerce (now Kaplan University), and she served as deputy clerk of the Otoe County District Court for six years. Farmer has been a registered abstracter and licensed title insurance agent since 1989. She was appointed to the Nebraska Abstracters Board of Examiners in 2010 and also serves on the Nebraska Land Title Association’s legislative committee.

Farmer replaces Sheila Tracy, who has been promoted to Commercial Closing and Title Manager, LaDuke’s previous position. Tracy has more than 25 years of experience in the title industry starting in California in 1986. She has been with NLTA since March 2002 and was the Senior Commercial and Residential searcher for 11 years. Most recently Tracy served for the last year and a half as Residential Title Production Manager.

Marilyn Wimer rejoins NLTA as an Escrow Officer. She has more than 40 years of experience as an escrow officer, closing department manager and in marketing and business development. Wimer is the current president of the Nebraska Escrow Association, is a longtime active member of the REALTOR’s Association of Lincoln, and has been a licensed title agent since 1992. A former employee of Capitol Title (now NLTA) and a well-respected local escrow closer, LaDuke and her team are pleased to have Wimer back with the NLTA family.

NLTA has named Harleena Vocasek to the Construction Disbursing Clerk position. She has previously served as a mortgage loan assistant, a mortgage loan processor and an accountant at Perry Reid Properties, so she is no stranger to the real estate transaction. Vocasek holds an Associate of Applied Science degree in Business Administration from Southeast Community College, is a Girl Scout leader and also a TeamMate mentor.

Barb McClellan has been promoted to Commercial Title Assistant. McClellan has worked in the title industry in Lincoln for 16 years. She started as a file clerk, then a receptionist, a customer service representative, a commitment typist, and most recently a title researcher. McClellan has also been with NLTA since 2002.

Capitol Title joins forces with NLTA in Omaha, changes name

NLTAEffective January 1, Capitol Title will change its name to Nebraska Land Title and Abstract (NLTA) and will join forces with its Omaha-based sister company of the same name and offer full-service title insurance and escrow closing services throughout the state.

This joining of forces makes NLTA the largest title operation in Nebraska, providing new business opportunities while maintaining the same high level of customer service and efficiency that its clients have enjoyed. Both companies will operate under the Nebraska Land Title and Abstract (NLTA) name in order to denote their statewide service. The combined title operation will be in a better position to secure new statewide and national business accounts.

Other than the name change, the combination will be seamless to consumers and real estate agents, who will continue to receive the same high level of customer service and see the same familiar faces through the transaction.

As part of the combination, the companies will be converting to the same title software system. The end goal is to facilitate electronic document management with the eventual goal of nearly “paperless” transactions. This feature will enhance the level of service provided to both consumers and agents.

Capitol Title serves the areas of Lincoln, Beatrice, Seward and Wahoo and was founded in 1981 by its predecessor, Beutler Title. NLTA was founded in 1984 and serves Omaha and surrounding areas.
